Morning in Nairobi

In Journal on February 3, 2012 at 1:09 am
We made it to my friend’s happy home in Nairobi after flights from Nashvegas to JFK to Amsterdam to Kenya.

Lillian was a champ. (I think she was most excited about having a little movie screen in the back of the seat to watch cartoons.)

We are staying with the family of Erik Hersman, co-founder of Ushihidi and the iHub, which is like E|Spaces in Nashville, and is the central melting pot for Kenyan young tech entrepreneurs and senior media players alike.

Erik’s wife and three daughters have a completely “normal” home with internet connection, tv, 3 doggies, pancake breakfast, fireplace, etc.

Except that right outside the garden wall is one of the busier streets in Nairobi with constant stream of minivans, trucks, motorcycles and people walking great distances to take care of business.
