Peter M. Durand (b. 1969) holds a BFA in Visual Communication from Washington University in St. Louis and a MFA in Industrial Design from the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, Poland, where he was a Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholar.

His paintings and drawings are rich and colorful, influenced by comics, pop art, graffiti and folk art.

Peter’s lifelong goal is to become a crazy old man playing the banjo on a broken down porch with a yard full of junk and $100,000 stuffed in a coffee can buried in the garden.

Every year, he is invited to play the Phantom Painter in the Opera at the Pop!Tech conference in Camden, Maine, where he slings paint while some of the world’s most amazing people tell stories on stage.

See a slideshow that walks you from the balcony sky box to the boiler room studio, and the stage of the Camden Opera House. Stuff from past Pop!Tech events can be found here.
